This morning on a trip to Clear Lake to check for the American Avocet seen yesterday, I saw three Eared Grebes and a Red-necked Grebe while viewing waterfowl at Deadman's Curve, which is just east of McIntosh State Park.
When covering the lake, I had quit counting loons when I was past a dozen; coots were everywhere, and duck species were down to twelve species in the area.
I did not find the Avocet. The few shorebirds we had had were gone.
