Subject: RE: [ia-bird] Chickadees - not a sighting.
I have seen as many as 4 chickadees at a time over the winter. I had also seen 3 at one time. Recently I regularly see 2 coming to feed.

They stage in a nearby bush and sometimes are on the peanut feeder. I feed mostly shelled peanuts and toss them on the patio.

The earliest bird most days is a Carolina Wren.

The Des Moines Audubon CBC recorded a sharp drop in chickadee numbers.
