Subject: [sd-birds] Whooping Cranes in Charles Mix County

This morning I received a tip of some Whooping Cranes in my area. I
quickly went out to search and saw a total of 13 Whooping Cranes! That
was pretty exciting to see! The first group of six were close enough for
photos, but that second group of seven was spread out and was distant.
Some other people were out there and confirmed the Whooping Cranes as
well. After all the thousand plus Sandhill Cranes I saw yesterday, I
expected to see them in the fields today, but I didn't see any. I love
watching spring fly in! Here are the latest FOYs {First-of-Year} birds:

Wilson's Phalarope

Western Grebe

Great-tailed Grackle

Black-necked Stilt
