Subject: [ia-bird] Extreme Northern Humboldt county and Kossuth County
Dropped by Plum Creek north of Algona this morning, recent precip has
turned the south field into a nice little wetland. Not terribly speciose
but had both yellowlegs species, a bunch of waterfowl and swarms of
icterids and Tree Swallows.

This last weekend in Humboldt county at the new wetlands made out of
drainage wells east of Gilmore the wetlands were full and active with just
about every dabbler duck you could imagine and several diver species. A
mixed Chen goose flock landed on the northside of Highway 3.

On the way home this evening, north of Ottosen but before the county line I
saw two Short-eared Owls working a CRP and a field planted with cover
crops.
