Subject: [IN-BIRD-L] Ft. Harrison State Park 4/5 - A nice mixture of species for early April
The first of my spring migration bird walks at Ft. Harrison State Park was on April 5th. The walk produced 41 species plus a Sharp-shinned or Cooper's Hawk. Highlights included a Pied-billed Grebe that has mastered hiding in vegetation, two Ospreys, adult Bald Eagle, two Eastern Phoebes, Purple Martin, 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Yellow-throated Warbler. The complete list is below.
I will be leading a free bird walk every Sunday in April and May at Ft. Harrison. Meet at 8am in the NE corner of Delaware Lake parking lot. Park admission may be required if someone is working the gate.
