Ira -
Interesting, and sorry to hear it.
Here in Roxborough we of course have Crows and Magpies at the platform
feeder and on the ground seed, House Finches at the cage feeders, but
that's year-round.
Numerous Robins have shown up.
A couple of Says Phoebes are in the area.
At least one pair of Great Horned Owls are active. The female flew 6
feet over my head a couple of days ago in the evening. (Several years
ago, before dawn, I heard 4 Great Horned Owls calling.)
A couple of Scrub Jays show up periodically. Blue Jays were more
prevalent earlier in the year, still in the neighborhood but only
occasionally at the feeders now.
White Crown Sparrows and Juncos still in the yard, mostly in the
mornings before the big guys show up.
A couple of Black Cap Chickadees persist, and Nuthatches can be heard in
the neighborhood and occasionally show up at feeders.
Mountain Bluebirds are heard occasionally, but numbers seem to be
declining over the past couple of years.. Spotted Towhee numbers do seem
to be down but they still hit the yard.
Adult and juvenile Flickers are prevalent this year. I've had 5 at a
time in the yard earlier this year, and still see two at a time on the
cage feeder.
Some Goldfinches, both American and Lesser, were around all winter, and
we've seen both in full summer plumage today.
Numerous Pigeons appear in the back yard daily, and a couple of
Accipiters have been thinning their numbers.
I had 3 Eurasian Collared Doves a while back but they've disappeared. A
Mourning Dove is currently visiting the yard.
Definitely fewer overall.
