Subject: [ia-bird] Van Buren County update
I visited Mt. Sterling wetlands today and saw:
50+ Pectoral Sandpipers
10+ Greater Yellowlegs
2 Lesser Yellowlegs
50+ Am White Pelicans
Various ducks including Hooded Mergansers.
The eagle nest on the north end of the wetland is occupied again after being MIA last year.
Saw a Northern Mockingbird by the highway near the church as I was leaving.

Stopped briefly at Lacey Keo SP.
Ely Ford stone bridge area:
FOY Eastern Towhee. Ruby and Golden Crowned Kinglets continuing in the meadow.
Lake Sugema:
100+ Red Breasted Mergansers
200+ DC Cormorants

It seems our warm weather and southerly winds are bringing rapid changes on a daily basis. Could be an early birding spring. Hopefully the birds will get here before the leaves do!
