We birded today NE of Spearfish then to Belle Fourche Reservoir and Nisland then return via WW Valley. Good weather with some wind. FOS sightings for Turkey Vulture near Spearfish, Great Blue Herons at the Redwater river rookery, and Common Grackles at BF Reservoir. Raptor sightings included Red-tailed and Rough Legged Hawks, Northern Harriers and American Kestrels. BF Reservoir had very few ducks, a few Killdeer, lots of Canada Geese, and a few Common Grackles. Most of our 8 duck sightings were at small ponds along the route. Once again we had just a few Killdeer for the only Shorebird sightings. Lots of Robins, Meadowlarks, and Starlings plus a few Mountain Bluebirds today.
At our feeders 1.5 miles south of Whitewood, we have lots of the regulars but no new migrant sightings. Whitewood Creek is wide open.
