Subject: [ia-bird] Lacey/Keo State Park - Saturday
(Tried to post this yesterday but apparently used wrong address.)

36 species this morning in Lacy State Park near Keosauqua. All the local woodpeckers including great looks at a Pileated foraging on the ground. Other highlights were FOS Yellow Rumped Warbler, several Brown Creepers, close views of a singing Winter Wren, a very insistent Red Shouldered Hawk screaming from the treetops, and Wood Ducks in the woods.

Merlin sound ID twice reported a Northern Mockingbird which I very much doubt and did not include in my e-Bird report. This same Merlin was unable to ID the winter wren at point blank range, reinforcing my policy of only "counting" birds I can ID visually.

Oh, also reporting FOY wood tick. Ugh, almost makes me miss winter.
