I've had established Carolina Wrens since 2011.  They are very hardy,
and as Ali said they do love suet.  I have seen them building nests that
they don't use.  I think they might have the same inclination as House
Wrens to build multiple nests before choosing one.  I have also seen
them doing this in midsummer, so there are multiple broods in a season. 
Enjoy your wrens, they are always fun to observe!
