Ecuador has been both amazing and tragic for birders. Tom joined legends, Ted Parker III and Ned Brinkley in passing while birding Ecuador. Weirdly, dying while doing what you love is the ultimate way to leave this planet, and I hope all three are seeing some amazing species in the cosmos. A family member had to be there for anything to happen. Tom will probably be moved from the morgue to a funeral home, he will be cremated and his brother will then come home with the ashes and some of his belongings. It may take several days to get the process completed. There will be a memorial service sometime later. I or someone else will post the date when determined.
