Subject: [sbcobirding] To look out for: Possible Little Blue Heron
This morning on Goleta Slough, Area L&M (north of Area K), I saw through a spotting scope from the Ucsb Bluff, a white Heron that was in size in between great egret and snowy egret. Legs were dull yellow throughout. Against a dark background, I could not tell the length or the color contrast of the darkish bill. I could not see the dark tips to the primaries. I drove around to the west side of Area L&M (on Cal Fish and Wildlife property) and the bird was not present.
My confidence level is not high that it was a LBHe, but under the ’See something, Say something’ guideline, I’ve said something.
