King Eider (Somateria spectabilis) (1) CONFIRMED

- Comments: "Continuing female, most likely the one first reported on 8/17/2025 (Brian O'Kelly & Alexander Yan).
Overall brown with the head and neck being lighter than the back. - When seen in profile, the bill-shape was unlike a Mallard's in that it seemed shorter and the forehead was sloping down to the bill in a more straight line.---When the wings were raised they showed a light-colored patch on the underside.
Today it was first standing at the edge of a floating dock at the oyster farm until a Western Gull caused it to walk. It finally jumped into the water and after swimming a bit flew off in the direction of the Morro Bay Estuary.

- Comments: "Despite heavy winds and rain the HASP continued to be seen this morning. . It was seen foraging for seeds and insects along with a small loose group of other zonotrichias. It was not seen yesterday, despite careful observations during the day."
