Date: 2/7/26 4:02 pm From: Trent R. Stanley via groups.io <trent...> Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Another Serra Mesa Coastal Cactus Wren, Shawn Ave
Barbara Carlson and I checked some more of the finger canyons of Serra Mesa
this morning (2/7) and found another Coastal Cactus Wren in a different
location at the east end of Shawn Ave (32.79521, -117.12300
<https://maps.app.goo.gl/wYkF6GmcfYbbm3L58>), an offshoot of Murphy Canyon
just up the hill from Stonecrest. We began at Shawn Ave and worked our way
down the very birdy canyon filled with flowers and fan palms. Just as we
were leaving, a Coastal Cactus Wren began singing from a patch of cacti
across the canyon (32.79715, -117.12256
<https://maps.app.goo.gl/6eUYTxXuEHjfwmXWA>). We stayed around to try for
photos and recordings. No visuals, but the recordings are unmistakable.
