I’ve yet to hear woodcock this year, though we have had them most years
over the past fifteen. We’ve been in a moderate-severe drought since last
summer so I’m wondering if they won’t stop if the ground is too hard to
probe.
I’ve had wood ducks the past few days, and the red-shouldered hawks are
courting and making lots of noise. The cardinals, nuthatch, chickadees, and
other resident birds are singing a lot now, too.
