- Comments: "Male bright red with dark wings and dark band across the eye. It was perching on a fence near a body of water. Periodically, it would swoop down to the ground to catch something and then land on the fence again. It was a small bird. Twenty feet away from it I saw a bird with the same body shape that looked like a female: light brown on top, streaked on light/whitish colored breast with a hint of yellow on belly. It was also sitting on the fence. There is a grassy field, some mature trees, and agricultural fields nearby. I had seen a male vermilion flycatcher in the same location two winters ago. It is called Jack O’Connell Park. I saw them with binoculars. The male I saw today looked exactly like the photos I have seen in the Audubon field guide. Also, the behavior was typical of a flycatcher, snatching insects."
