Common Poorwill (Phalaenoptilus nuttallii) (1)
- Reported Feb 07, 2026 05:46 by John Deacon
- North Harris Grade Road, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.440359&<ll...>,-120.440359 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S298601256 - Media: 1 Audio
- Comments: "Singing. Marginal recording. Owling on Harris Grade Road. Lots of traffic noise. I heard GHOW and a NSWO but further up the canyon I heard the unmistakable calling of a COPO. I tried to entice him to come closer but he remained in a distance, calling almost continuously. Merlin couldn't pick him up but I did get a recording with Voice Record 7. Hard to hear over road and ag noise. Headphones help. I left the noise of the car driving by in the recording because the bird was loudest just following the car noise."
