- Comments: "Male, all-black bird with orange on bill. At a distance, the entire bill appeared orange. Seen at a distance, but from multiple angles. All black face and neck rules out male and female surf scoter, and no other possibilities considered for a bird of this one's size and shape. Alone on the water and relatively close to shore compared to a more distant group of unidentifiable scoters further offshore."
