Subject: [sbcobirding] recent rarities
Just the messenger here. Yesterday, Sophie Cameron photographed a Laughing
Gull at Jalama Beach. This is the first in the county since, I believe,
2019. Sophie says the bird "was not too far from the parking lot, maybe
half a mile down the beach." There is also a possible American
Oystercatcher at Jalama that has been reported on Slack for the past two
weeks. The photos on Slack look promising, but I don't know if anyone has
got good enough shots of wings and tail to identify it conclusively.

Sophie also photographed a Crested Caracara at Haskell's Beach on January
12th; this bird could show up anywhere on the coastal plain.
