> Hi Birders,
>
> Ten participants walked the San Pedro trails this morning and recorded 33 species. The recent rains in the San Pedro River watershed resulted in the river trail being closed due to mud. The walk started with cool temperatures and an overcast sky which initially kept bird activity down. Things picked up near Black Phoebe Pond where we heard a singing Crissal Thrasher and saw a Belted Kingfisher on the pond. Kingfisher Pond, after filling with water during the fall, has some good marsh habitat. Although no rails were revealed, multiple Marsh Wrens, Common Yellowthroats and Song Sparrows were seen and heard. The walk ended at the San Pedro House with sightings of a couple of Northern Cardinals.

> The Friends of the San Pedro River lead birding walks every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from the San Pedro House located south of Highway 90 just west of the San Pedro River. The walks last about three hours. During February the walks start at 7:00a. Bring your own binoculars, a hat and water.
