Subject: [BostonBirds] 1/29 D. Blakely Hoar Sanctuary Highlights
I birded from Muddy River at Longwood all the way to D. Blakely Hoar Sanctuary in South Brookline. This included a complete circuit around Jamaica Pond as well as two circuits around D. Blakely Hoar Sanctuary. One of my target birds was Barred Owl, seeing as I have seen them here several times over the years. I was surprised when, at 5:25, a pair of Great Horned Owls started calling to each other! They dueted as well. At one point, I heard this very strange, very loud and sharp call. I presume it was one of the above mentioned owls.
