Interesting today to see a Great Blue Heron with a Rough-skinned or California Newt in its bill at the pond at East Glenwood Preserve. It wouldn't
swallow it. It kept dipping it in the water as if to wash off the toxins... It didn't want to release it, but it wouldn't eat it. I assume that if it swallowed the newt, it would have perished. Happy to be educated further.Paul Miller
