I just went to the NH Birds site and saw Steve's comment which states that he believes that it is OK to share a Snowy Owl's location. Thank you Steve. And for those reasons I'm in agreement. For some reason your comment never made it into my inbox.
Prior to this we were never made aware not to give a location for a Snowy Owl. After all, its location shows up on eBird for the whole world to see. Unlike the Long-eared Owl that my wife and I saw several years ago just across our southern boarder. That report (with my photos) got deleted off eBird due to their sensitivity to human disturbance. I've been taking pictures of Snowy Owls for many years and posting them on eBird. eBird has never deleted any of my postings.
Didn't think my posting to the group would create this kind of fireworks. We just wanted to share our great day out with others.
