On January 3, 2026, eighteen amazing volunteer birders participated in the Thibodaux Christmas Bird Count. It was a windy day, which made it more challenging to detect birds and navigate the Lake Boeuf site. Despite this, we counted 114 species, so not too bad considering the conditions. The high species count for Thibodaux is 119.
Mentionable finds: 4 Great-tailed Grackle (increased # from last year), Clay-colored Sparrow, and Fox Sparrow.
