January 17, checking shorebird habitat between Bair Island and the Ravenswood Salt Ponds, there were ( 14 ) Lesser Yellowlegs among Greater Yellowlegs. I have noted on an occasionon the salt ponds Red Knot and Ruddy Turnstone. During a high tide among Black-bellied Plovers were ( 4 ) Red Knots and a Ruddy Turnstone. ( 1/18 ) There was a Yellow Warbler atan office complex along Twin Dolphin Drive in Redwood Shores. Last winter, ( 2 ) Yellow Warblers Leonie and I noted at this location. Yesterday ( 1/20 ) at the Coyote County Park, I wasscoping from the shoreline near the parking lot for the yacht club. In with a group of Surf Scoters beyond the concrete slabs was a Long-tailed Duck. The Long-tailed Duck took flightwith a number of Surf Scoters north to the tip of the rock jetty where the male Harlequin Duck was present. The Long-tailed Duck and Surf Scoters did appeared to go past the end ofthe jetty. ( 5 ) Snowy Plovers were on the shoreline that I have rarely noted at the point. Around midday, I did a quick scan of the sky from the upper deck at home in Redwood Shores. Flying north high over Belmont was a flock of ( 12 ) Greater White-fronted Geese. Yesterday morning, there was a brisk ENE wind coming out of the interior.
