First, I went to Castle Island from 11:30-1:30 in hopes of seeing the two Short-eared Owla that Dan Burton had seen the previous day (per e-bird). I was about to give up after twenty minutes or so when, out of nowhere, three raptors came into view. Two Short-eared Owls and a Northern Harrier. For the next twenty minutes I enjoyed the occasional diving upon each other, as well as the strange moth-like movements of these beautiful owls. Unfortunately, there are no benches at the fish pier area.
