Good morning, Last Friday evening John Harshman and I along with Kat Hill, the Educational Programs Coordinator, met with about 25 eager "owlers" to prowl for owls. A Red-tailed Hawk and a few Acorn Woodpeckers greeted us at the start. I personally have never owled with a "crowd," but these attendees were remarkably respectful and quiet! As a result, 2 Northern Pygmy Owls, possibly 3, tuned up and serenaded us. Later, a pair of Great Horned Owls serenaded each other. I believe many attendees had a really cool experience! My thanks to John for his excellent birding assistance and to Kat for making all those arrangements with the City of San Jose and the Park Rangers that need to be done for a field trip like this. Here is the eBird list for the evening. https://ebird.org/checklist/S295042970 Hoot, hoot, Vicki Silvas-Young
