Learn about the hows and whys of the bird banding project at The Woodlands
Conservancy in Belle Chase. Jed is the primary bander at Woodlands
Conservancy in Belle Chasse, a position he has held since 2018. He retired
in 2023 after teaching high school and college-level biology for 30 ½
years. Jed has volunteered and worked as a field technician for nearly two
decades on various avian-related projects for the National Park Service,
Louisiana Audubon, Audubon Delta, American Bird Conservancy, Louisiana Bird
Observatory, and the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP).
Jed earned his Master’s degree in Natural Science from LSU, where he
studied ornithology, conservation biology, and ecology.
