Follow up.
What a wonderful response we got, and thank you to everyone who answered our call. The birding community really came through, so many people had good tips and locations where we might spy some owls.
Yesterday we were treated to a possible barn owl who is often seen on a private ranch. Alan Schmierer made the arrangements and after school we went on an expedition to find the elusive owl. My grandson, who is quite the athlete, was able to make it into the barn hopping on one foot with a walker! While on the ranch we took the time to check out all the other birds in the area. I think their favorite was a Great Blue Heron in the field hunting gophers. Diana's favorite was the Lawrence Goldfinch flock we ran into.
The boys had a fun time and a nice adventure. We have a few more outings planned including Meet the Raptors at the Morro Bay Bird Festival!
