Hi folks,
I had a NORTHERN HOUSE WREN on the Adobe Creek Trail at Byxbee Park (Palo
Alto) along Coast Casey Forebay. I first heard it around 0915 and finally
got a good look around 1040 as it passed by my feet at Susan Hemmenway’s
platform (approx 37.4504254, -122.1025688). It only vocalized briefly two
times in the hour plus that I waited, except for a third time when a flock
of BUSH crashed its solo foraging party and it gave long, agitated buzzes.
The other two times it gave its gnatcatcher-like short calls. It snuck
around low in the coyote brush, sagebrush, and lemonadeberry (?) on either
side of the trail, and only moved a total of about 50-60ft the whole hour+.
Looking at eBird this may have been the bird seen in Dec as well.
