Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] La Jolla Leach's Storm-Petrel and plenty of Murres
At dawn this morning there was no wind at La Jolla but within 45 minutes it picked up And now it is moderate from the west or Northwest. We had a fairly close Leach's-type Storm petrel with a nice white rump fly by. I suppose one can't eliminate Ainleys....... We are now also up to 30 Common Murres, all southbound. And speaking of southbound, a notable movement of loons and scoters still happening southbound on the 8th of January. Also a notable movement of adult Heermann's Gulls back to the south.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://sandiegofieldornithologists.org/san-diego-county-avian-records-database/.
