Needed scope to view/iD. Too windy for usable photos:/ There were two Black-bellied Plovers nearby to compare to. It seemed in comparison to be more slender with a slightly smaller bill, and more golden tones than the nearby Black-bellied Plover."

- Comments: "Black back, wings and tail with white splotches and spots; vertical white stripe along the leading edge of the closed wing; red crown; broad black stripe through the eye bordered above and below by a white stripe; black chest patch below the white throat; mottled underparts with yellowish wash. --- Foraging at a tree trunk with many drill holes in the back of the DMV parking lot.

- Comments: "Regularly eBird-reported species since 9/21/25.
Boldly streaked black and white pattern; black upperparts with white streaks; grayish-white face; white eyering; eyeline starting behind the eye; black crown with broad white center stripe; broad white supercilium; white throat and underparts; black streaks on the flanks; black spots on the undertail; two white wingbars; sharply pointed bill. --- In the oak grove at the intersection, where the two paths come together, west of the playground."

- Comments: "Continuing along path between Laguna Middle School and Laguna Lake. Calling. Recording of thick rising chip call. Very short notes. This is my second encounter with this bird that JC found last year. Heard in same eucalyptus tree as last time."
