Thanks for serving as coordinator, Peg. Good job, good birds and a good total number of species. Jocie Baker

RAPID CITY 2025 CBC
We were fortunate to have outstanding weather for humans on our count day, considering the relentless wind we have had. The mild weather this season has perhaps affected some bird migration. The heavily laden crabapple trees and junipers have provided a feast for many.
It’s unclear what part the bizarre micro-cimate effect we’ve had this winter played in our observations. On the count day, it started at 6 degrees in the lower parts of Rapid City, but rose as we ascended as little as 200 feet in elevation and ended with 48 degrees in the foothills. The fact that it was calm and mostly sunny was amazing.
We were able to count a few notable sightings: Brown Thrasher, Spotted Towhee, White-throated Sparrow, Song Sparrow, and the elusive Brown Creeper. Flocks of Robins were seen in various locations. We had a great day.
