Round head; white face and neck; diffused dark stripe over the crown and continuing to nape; diffused dark patch on ear/neck; black wings with four long pointy light gray scapulars; pink bill with dark nail."

- Comments: "Continuing. I looked for this bird a few weeks ago. Today took all of five seconds to find it. So did it just recently fly in? Very interesting. Anyway, all-orange bill, steep forehead. Awesome find by the Lassagnes. Photos."

- Comments: "Smaller than nearby Black-bellied Plovers. Distant views with scope showed this "plump" bird to be long winged, long legged with yellowish wash on face. The "blocky" head showed distinct ear spot, lighter nape than crown, short bill and faint yellowish flecking on back. Observed appx. 100 yards south from the end of the south boardwalk viewing area."

Larger alcid that appeared almost entirely dark above, with a bold, oval-ish white spot on each wing. Seen multiple times, but the waves made photographs impossible."
