Although we happily saw swans, we saw no geese or ducks. We spoke with two sets of locals who told us that about a week or so ago there was a big die=off of waterfowl due to the avian flu. A Fish and Wildlife biologist was called and went down to check. All the birds in a pond were dead, or too weak to react; one died after taking flight.
