Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Ancient Murrelet at imperial Beach Pier
At around 12:15 p.m. local resident Heather Ridgeway photographed an ancient murrelet half way out the imperial Beach Pier near the bathrooms. At 3:40 p.m. The bird is still here and spending all its time swimming under the water under the pier in exactly the same area, onl briefly coming up for views but we can actually watch it swimming underwater. The female whitewing scoter and drake black scoter are also both here and providing good photo opportunities. I'll stay here till it's almost dark if anybody wants to show up and give it a try.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
