Subject: Gull Identification
Could someone help me confirm this is an AMERICAN HERRING GULL?

seen a few days ago in Sebastian County (River Valley)

I had considered California Gull due to what felt like a more tubular (less
gony angle) bill and just a notch bigger in overall size than adjacent
Ring-billed Gulls.
but, resolved with Herring Gull when I noted the pale inner primaries.

poor stills and low light, but here's some description of what I saw...

- bicolored bill with paler base
- dark eye
- black eye "mask" (pale face, top of head/neck)
- pale base of tail with corse marking
- paler inner primaries
- chocolatey brown overall, rather than a gray
