Just to be clear on the longspurs at Brown Field: there appear to likely be three birds present, two Thick-billeds and seemingly a Chestnut-collared. Angela J. got photos of both a male and a female-type T-b (see her eBird list).
On Dec 15th, Charley Herzfeld photo'd an oystercatcher at La Jolla Cove that seems to be a pretty good match for the bird that was there VERY sporadically between January and April and scored as a "barely acceptable" American using the Jehl Scale. Might also be the same bird (American) that was present back in Summer 2024. Several of us took Charley's photos and independently came up with scores of 30, 31, and 31/32, which, again, makes it a barely acceptable American. For those who would like to look for this bird, good luck given its sporadic appearances. If not at the rocks at seawatch, probably best to try the rocky shoreline to the south for the next mile.
