Weather:
Another frosty morning beginning at 17 F and rising to 23 F by the end of
the count, Overcast all day, West wind was light to moderate all morning
while tapering off into the afternoon, Some light snow showers getting
heavier in final hour of the count

Raptor Observations:
The morning hours were slow with no raptors observed. Between the afternoon
lull and cold temps, an adult Golden Eagle rose slowly over the tree line
along the north side of the ridge and made a close low pass while cutting
over the road heading southwest.

A Red-tailed Hawk rose high over the ridge shortly after, gaining lift
before continuing south. Both migrants on the day came in the same hour

First GE 1420
Last RT 1455

Today was the final day of observation for counter Jess Cosentino. The
count will continue daily (weather permitting) until 12/31

It has been a pleasure getting to stand atop this ridge over the last four
months and enjoy the migration of so many good birds with you all. - Jess

Non-raptor Observations:
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Hairy Woodpecker, Blue Jay, American Robin,
Dark-eyed Junco 20, White-breasted Nuthatch, White-throated Sparrow 4,
Northern Cardinal

Virginia Opossum (New Mammal species for the season): Seen foraging in the
snow near the road in the afternoon, likely foraging on some of the bird
seed

Predictions:
Following recent cold days this last week, temps will get a bit warmer over
this upcoming week

The next few days call for either west winds or variable south winds, with
next north winds not until next Monday
