The female HEPATIC TANAGER has returned for its 3rd winter along the Mineral Wells Trail and with it, this morning, was one of the two THICK-BILLED KINGBIRDS that are wintering in the park, one of the two SUMMER TANAGERS and a male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK (found by Maggie Perlman this am). All could be found here:34.13966822994898, -118.28860128582257
The other THICK-BILLED KINGBIRD in the park can be reliably found at the Merry Go Round and nearby, there is a continuing male SUMMER TANAGER at the Old Zoo along with an apparent hybrid YELLOW-BELLIED X RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER (check eBird lists for GPS on its favored trees).
At the Toyon Landfill this morning, there was a single MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD.
