Weather: A raw and blustery mid-December day on the ridge with the warmest temperatures in the morning at 23 F, while gradually getting colder each hour in the afternoon, A steady northwest wind all day with increased strength around noon and tapering off in the early afternoon, Early morning brought snow flurries on the ridge reducing any visibility for about an hour
Raptor Observations: A mix of raptors moving down the ridge throughout the morning, as Bald Eagles and Red-tailed Hawks found considerable lift off the northwest winds and were passing quite high overhead. A late morning subadult/adult Golden Eagle crossed high over the ridge into the northwest winds as distant snow squalls spread across a blue grey sky.
A male American Kestrel hung around briefly while not migrating, but rather perching on the nearby power line offering great colorful looks against a snowy white backdrop
Predictions: High 26 F, Steady NW winds, chance of snow showers by afternoon ======================================================================== Report submitted by WG Counter ()
