Subject: [slocobirding] Harris's Sparrow- Morro Bay
A Harris's Sparrow made an appearance in our yard today!!! This species is considered an extreme rarity for the West Coast of North America. I was told that there is only one other being reported in California at this time. It spent a little time at our water feature and feeding with a House Sparrow on our nearby lawn before flying off. It made one brief appearance about an hour later seen by some visiting birders as it perched on a wire over the rear of our yard. Despite other birders arriving waiting, hoping it would return it had not been seen again at dusk.

It had long been at the top of my wish list for a yard bird. Keep your eye out for it. It just might show up in your yard???

Pictures from today are now on my flicker site.:http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaarenp/
