*Visitors:*
A great crew of hawk watchers today. A special guest was Joe Sabo from
Pittsburgh, one of our favorite watchers and a person who especially loves
to watch Golden Eagles. We have watched raptors with Joe for many years and
his enthusiasm and experience are inspiring. Joe will watch a Golden Eagle
through his scope for as long as he can.
*Weather:*
Wind initially WNW 8-10 mph, then W increasing to 13-17 mph in p.m. Mostly
cloudy in a.m., gradual clearing, temp -5:-4C. A good wind for migration.
*Raptor Observations:*
GE(21 Ad): 832, 851, 856, 903, 918, 938, 955, 1002, 1011, 1108, 1113, 1114,
1129, 1214, 1236, 1245, 1317, 1352, 1455, 1500, 1502 BE: Ad-2, Imm-3 With
relatively light WNW and then W, most of the GEs passed on the NW side of
BE Mt, many of them low. One moved to the AF foothills, 2 moved to the S
side of the ridge. One was seen over the foothills.
*Non-raptor Observations:*
C. Goose-166, Tundra Swan-80
*Predictions:*
Next watch days: Friday - light W wind; Saturday - moderate WSW wind;
Sunday - 12-14 mph WNW, best forecast in the next several days. It is
possible that we could see 25-50 more GEs this month. Visitors must wear
orange to and from watch site Fri-Sat.
