Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Black-throated Blue Warbler, SDSU
Last Friday a student photographed a male Black-throated Blue Warbler at
SDSU, perched on the ENS Annex building. Word got out last night, and after
an hour or so of searching this morning I found it a short distance away.

It was uphill from the Turtle Pond/Scripps Cottage area, near the northeast
corner of the Theatre building (32.77533, -117.07229). It was first
foraging in the canopy of some orchid trees, then hopped on the building's
railing and in some bushes near a dripping water main. The water main seems
to be a good spot for bird activity, with other warblers present.

Parking might be challenging during the day, although there are public pay
spots in Parking Structure 12 (32.77566, -117.07469), which is fairly close.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
