A dozen Evening Grosbeaks showed up briefly at my feeding station in Bennington, Vermont yesterday. The flock swooped in, fed on the ground for about a minute, then was spooked by something and took off.
Perhaps this was the opening of a bountiful winter finch season, as predicted. Fingers crossed.
