Hello,
Sorry for the late alert, but as part of the San Dieguito Lagoon Bird Count
on December 7, we found a female Lazuli Bunting. Apparently, it may be one
of the first winter records in San Diego County. Unfortunatly we got no
photos nor recordings. Here is the description in the checklist:
Saw a female from the Dust Devil Nature Trail overlooking the new
restoration basin, in the large patch of cattails at east end of tidal
basin, west of the power lines service road.
–Rich brown head, yellowish tinge
–Brownish overall
–Finch-like bill
–2 wing bars
–No streaking on head, face, or breast
–More plain grayish brown on the breast and underparts
–Saw blue around upper tail coverts
–Voice matched
