Both were dwarfed by a nearby Western Gull, which made for a great size comparison. Both birds took flight, one after the other—and were tiny footballs with wide rounded wings. I took a distant video from a few hundred yards away and in it could see upper dark wings and white underwings with black trailing edges. The backs were dark grey and tails dark. Their heads were black with white collars. Couldn’t make out the bill colors or bill-tip colors."
