Date: 12/7/25 10:58 am From: Allen Gathman <agathman...> Subject: Fall Seasonal Report Information Request
Ornithological fall (August 1 - November 30) 2025 has ended, and I'm
compiling information for the Fall Seasonal Report.
Please send me your significant Fall 2025 sightings for the period August 1
– November 30, and please give me permission to use your eBird photos of
such birds in the seasonal report in The Bluebird.
SIGNIFICANT sightings:
* Any species listed as "rare", "casual", or "accidental"
on the Annotated Checklist of Missouri Birds: ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF
MISSOURI BIRDS (mobirds.org) – However, if you reported these on eBird,
I’ll find them anyway.
* Unusually early or late dates (check Mark Robbins,
excellent resource in the updated 'The Status and Distribution of Birds in
Missouri' available for free download at: The Status and Distribution of
Birds of Missouri, 2nd edition (ku.edu) - These are harder to find on
eBird, so I’d like to hear from you about them.
* High counts or unusually low counts (also include a note
if a species usually present in your area during this period appeared to be
completely absent or unusually abundant). Definitely would like to hear
about these.
PHOTOS – I especially want photos of your significant birds. If you put
the photos in an eBird checklist, I can download them from it, but I will
still need your permission to use the photos in the Bluebird. If you like,
you can give me blanket permission to use your eBird photos in The
Bluebird, by just emailing me and saying so.
Otherwise, high-resolution images can be e-mailed in JPEG format. Please
include the location, date, and photographer’s name with each photo.
Your sightings must be submitted directly to me or be entered into eBird to
be considered for inclusion in the final report. Sightings posted only to
MOBIRDS-L will not be included in the report.
These sightings will then be compiled for two reports: The first report
will include a summary of the 2024 fall highlights and will appear in the
Missouri Birding Society’s journal – The Bluebird. That report will then
be used to write the Iowa-Missouri regional report for the American Birding
Association's North American Birds online journal.
Information related to weather and general observations in your area are
encouraged and appreciated.
If you have questions about species’ seasonal status, abundance, and or
distribution specific to your area, please ask me.
Thanks for your help!
