Today, I had a surprising encounter at Bramble Park here in Watertown. I encountered three eastern bluebirds! I don't remember ever seeing this species in winter on this side of the river. The (very much outdated and in need of a 4th edition) Birds of South Dakota mentions eastern bluebirds appearing on 16% of CBC's between 1949-1998.
