- Comments: "continuing on mesa. flew to tree and perched approximately here: 34°25'20.3"N 119°47'36.4"W. got in a brief altercation with one of the barn owls also out foraging. similar size to barn owl but much browner above. got dark out very quickly so I lost the bird after missing where it landed"

- Comments: "Bright red adult male. Gray ear coverts, flanks, and back. Dark gray wings. Red upper and under tail. Continuing bird seen on north side of creek, in euc about 20 feet above ground. Stayed several minutes and then flew south into thicker part of forest. 34°26′14″ N 119°53′15″ W."

- Comments: "This bird gave a 2-note and 3-note calls incessantly, but it took 25 minutes before I finally saw the bird briefly. All red male. Bird was found by John Lewis in Dec 2024 and again this year on 2 December."
